Heather Lakin-Terry, Therapist

Heather Lakin-Terry, Ms, LCMHC

Heather Lakin-Terry is dedicated to helping individuals find relief, stability, and renewed hope by offering a safe, compassionate space for healing. She works with children (8+), teens, adults, and older adults across New Hampshire, providing support that honors the unique needs of each stage of life. Heather’s calming presence and empathic approach help clients feel understood as they navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, and other emotional challenges.

With a background in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness-based practices, Heather offers practical, grounded tools that promote emotional resilience and personal growth. She brings extensive experience supporting veterans, individuals healing from trauma, and adults facing major life transitions, grief, or significant stress.

Heather is especially passionate about assisting individuals recently discharged from psychiatric hospitals. She understands how overwhelming the return to daily life can feel and provides structured, compassionate care that helps clients stabilize, reconnect with their strengths, and move forward with confidence.

Her experience also includes working with adoption and foster care systems, military families, and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Heather strives to create an affirming environment where each person feels supported, respected, and empowered in their healing process.

Outside of her clinical work, Heather enjoys spending time with her husband, son, and extended family. Her favorite moments often include taking her dog on donut-themed car rides—a small tradition that reflects her warm, approachable personality and belief in finding joy in simple moments.
