Sarah Chickering helps adults across New Hampshire navigate mental health challenges, life transitions, and recovery with compassion, clinical expertise, and a trauma-informed approach. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker at LifeStance Health, she provides individual therapy for adults and older adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, PTSD and trauma, and substance use issues. She is committed to creating a supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives. A particular area of passion for Sarah is working with individuals who have recently been discharged from a psychiatric hospital. She understands that the transition from inpatient care back into everyday life can be complex and emotionally demanding. Sarah helps clients strengthen coping skills, build stability, manage symptoms, and develop practical strategies that support continued recovery. Her goal is to provide consistent, compassionate care that helps clients move forward with confidence while reducing the risk of future crises. Sarah utilizes evidence-based interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Her treatment approach is collaborative and individualized, helping clients address the underlying factors contributing to emotional distress while building resilience and long-term wellness. In addition to her primary specialties, she offers support for a variety of mental health concerns and life challenges. She has experience working with diverse populations, including military veterans, first responders, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Sarah also has a strong interest in trauma-informed care and supporting individuals in reducing recidivism, recognizing the importance of addressing both emotional well-being and the broader factors that influence long-term success and stability. Sarah earned her education through the University of New Hampshire–Durham and Granite State College. Since beginning her clinical practice in 2021, she has focused on helping clients develop the skills and insight needed to create lasting change. Outside of her professional work, Sarah enjoys spending time with family, including her beloved fur babies. She also enjoys hiking and spending time outdoors, activities that help her stay grounded and connected to the importance of balance and well-being.
