Colleen Doran, LCSW
Specializes In:
At LifeStance Health, Colleen Doran helps teens, adults, and older adults throughout New Jersey navigate life’s challenges with compassion, practical guidance, and decades of clinical experience. She works collaboratively with individuals, couples, and families who are seeking support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma, creating a therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Since beginning her clinical career in 1993, Colleen has helped people build resilience, strengthen relationships, and develop healthier ways of coping with stress and emotional difficulties. A particular area of passion for Colleen is supporting individuals who have been recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital and are transitioning back into daily life. She understands that this period can feel overwhelming and uncertain, and she provides structured, supportive care designed to promote stability, recovery, and long-term wellness. By helping clients develop coping strategies, strengthen support systems, and maintain treatment goals, she strives to ease the transition and foster renewed confidence and hope. Colleen’s practice incorporates evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based interventions. She draws from these techniques to help clients better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building skills that support lasting emotional growth. In addition to anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns, she offers support for a wide range of mental health and life-transition challenges and provides additional therapeutic services tailored to each client’s unique needs. She also has experience working with specialized populations, including military veterans, first responders, and individuals involved in adoption or foster care experiences. Her approach is personalized, recognizing that every client brings a unique history, perspective, and set of strengths to treatment. Outside of her professional work, Colleen enjoys spending time with her family, including her twin grandchildren. She loves reading, gardening, traveling, and spending time at the beach, activities that help her stay grounded and connected to the things she values most.
