Jennifer Feldman is a licensed clinical social worker with an R – specializing in working with adolescents and their families through psychotherapy. Ms. Feldman starts all sessions with a full assessment so that she may understand the story of the client. This includes may aspects of the clients past and present. It touches upon the biological, psychological, emotional, and social characteristics in their lives. She is very good at listening and validating one’s problems. She makes them feel as if treatment is worth it. She has a very positive outlook that she teaches to her clients. She can work with a variety of populations including those with Autism and Developmental Disabilities. Her goal is to help her clients see that problems can be managed and that asking for help is a strength. Ms. Feldman obtained her Bachelor’s of Social Work and her Masters of Social Work at Adelphi University. Shortly thereafter she received her Certified Social Worker Degree. During the educational process, Ms. Feldman has participated in several internships that include a Geriatric Facility, a Foster Care Program and a YMWHA, a community setting geared towards helped those less fortunate. For the last 22 years, Ms. Feldman has worked in a psychiatric hospital on an adolescent unit. She has worked with schools, with clinics, with case managers and many other agencies involved with adolescents and their families. During her time there she has utilized many different types of therapy, though short term, like DBT and CBT. She has also work with trauma victims. She has helped those with many psychiatric diagnoses like PTSD, Bipolar Disorder, Depression, Mood Disorders, and many others. One of Ms. Feldman’s biggest strengths is her empathy and her way of making clients feel as if she understands them. During her 22 years at the hospital, she has received many accolades from her colleagues such as Social Worker of the year and over a dozen Care Grams, given when one feels that Ms. Feldman has gone above and beyond her contractual duties. Her performance has led to clients expressing their gratitude in the form of letters, pictures and even gifts. Her therapeutic approach, which includes her outstanding sympathetic attention, has proven effective and has achieved positive results with her clients of all ages.
