Jason Kohavi, LMHC,
About Jason Kohavi (He/Him)
Jason Kohavi helps children, adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults develop practical tools to manage emotional and behavioral challenges, strengthen relationships, and improve overall well-being. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with LifeStance Health, he provides therapy for individuals and families throughout New York, offering compassionate, evidence-based care tailored to each person’s unique goals and circumstances. Jason has experience supporting patients facing anxiety, depression, and ADHD, while also helping individuals navigate concerns such as childhood behavior issues, grief, school avoidance, relationship difficulties, obsessive-compulsive disorder, men’s issues, and life transitions. He believes effective therapy begins with understanding each person’s story and creating a supportive environment where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes. Jason is especially passionate about working with children and families experiencing childhood behavior issues, ADHD, and school avoidance. He collaborates closely with parents and caregivers to foster healthy development, strengthen communication, and build effective strategies that support success at home, in school, and in social settings. His goal is to help young people gain confidence, improve coping skills, and navigate challenges in ways that promote long-term growth and resilience. His therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), while drawing from additional interventions to meet the needs of each patient. Through treatment, Jason helps individuals identify patterns that may be contributing to distress, develop healthier ways of thinking and responding, and build skills that support lasting emotional wellness. Outside of his clinical work, Jason enjoys playing basketball, watching movies and television shows, walking, exercising, and spending time with friends and family. These interests help him maintain balance and reinforce his appreciation for the importance of connection, recreation, and self-care. Jason earned his education through CUNY Brooklyn College and CUNY Kingsborough Community College.
