Specializes In:
Jen Knowlton holds a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and a Master’s in Education. Before becoming a therapist, she spent over two decades as an educator, giving her a strong foundation in child and adolescent development, learning differences, and family dynamics.
She provides therapy to children, adolescents, adults, and couples. Her background in education informs her work with younger clients, helping them express themselves in developmentally appropriate, safe ways. She supports youth with anxiety, low self-esteem, emotional outbursts, school struggles, and peer issues, and works with caregivers to improve communication and strengthen family connection.
Clients of all ages seek support for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation, relationship challenges, and life transitions. She is especially passionate about helping people heal from breakups and attachment wounds, build healthier boundaries, and navigate difficulties in dating, long-term partnerships, and family relationships.
Work with couples is also an important part of her practice. She helps partners improve communication, navigate conflict, rebuild trust, and deepen emotional connection. She has completed Level 2 training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy and incorporates Gottman-informed, research-based interventions into her work to support healthier, more secure relationships.
Her approach is affirming of all identities and cultures, and she strives to ensure clients of all races, genders, and sexual orientations feel seen, valued, and safe in therapy. A culturally responsive, identity-affirming lens guides her work, and she welcomes conversations around identity exploration and self-acceptance.
She also has a special interest in working with individuals and couples in ethical non-monogamous relationships. She offers a supportive, nonjudgmental space to explore boundaries, communication, jealousy, and other relational dynamics, and helps clients live in alignment with their values.
Known for warmth, a down-to-earth nature, and genuine care, she creates a space where clients feel supported, heard, and deeply understood. She believes healing happens in connection and feels honored to walk alongside clients as they clarify their values, reclaim their voice, and work toward meaningful growth and change.
