Kelly Downs, LSW, helps adults and seniors across Illinois navigate life’s challenges with compassion, practical support, and evidence-based therapy. As a provisionally licensed social worker at LifeStance Health, she partners with individuals experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma, while also supporting those facing additional mental health challenges. Through individual therapy, Kelly creates a welcoming space where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. One area Kelly is especially passionate about is helping individuals who have been recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital. She understands that the transition from inpatient care back to daily life can feel overwhelming and uncertain. Kelly works closely with clients during this critical period to strengthen coping skills, support emotional stability, reduce the risk of relapse, and foster confidence as they move forward in recovery. Her approach emphasizes collaboration, hope, and practical strategies tailored to each person’s unique needs. Kelly’s therapeutic approach draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), along with other evidence-based interventions when appropriate. She has experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds, including members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals with autism spectrum disorders, and those with developmental disabilities. In addition to her primary specialties, Kelly supports clients with a wide range of concerns, including grief, bipolar disorder, life transitions, women’s issues, and other mental health needs. She earned her education from Illinois State University and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, building a strong foundation in clinical practice and person centered care. Outside of her professional work, Kelly enjoys spending time with family and friends, drinking coffee, singing karaoke, and finding opportunities to help others in her community. These interests reflect the warmth, connection, and authenticity she brings to her therapeutic relationships.

Kelly Downs provides services with supervision.
