Laurie Harper, MS, LMHC-A,
About Laurie Harper (She/Her)
Laurie Harper helps children, adolescents, and their families navigate emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges with compassionate, evidence-based care. At LifeStance Health, she provides individual and group therapy for young patients throughout Rhode Island, supporting children who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma-related concerns, or difficulties at home and school. Laurie believes that every child has unique strengths, and she works closely with families to foster growth, confidence, and lasting emotional well-being. Her therapeutic approach is centered on creating a safe and engaging environment where young clients can build skills, express themselves, and develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges. Laurie incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based techniques, and parenting skills support to help children improve emotional regulation, strengthen resilience, and achieve meaningful progress. In addition to her primary areas of expertise, she provides support for a variety of other childhood and family-related concerns. Laurie is especially passionate about helping children experiencing childhood behavior issues, ADHD, and trauma. She understands that behavioral challenges and the effects of difficult experiences can impact a child’s relationships, academic performance, self-esteem, and daily functioning. Through a collaborative approach that includes family involvement when appropriate, she helps children and caregivers better understand underlying concerns, develop effective strategies, and build stronger connections that support long-term success. As a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Laurie brings a thoughtful and nurturing perspective to her work with children and families. She earned her education from Rhode Island College, SUNY Potsdam, and the University of New Hampshire-Durham. Her clinical style combines patience, empathy, and practical tools designed to meet each child’s developmental needs. Outside of her practice, Laurie enjoys traveling, gardening, beach combing, and creating stained glass artwork. These interests reflect her appreciation for creativity, discovery, and the restorative benefits of spending time in nature. Families across Rhode Island seeking therapy for childhood anxiety, ADHD, depression, behavior concerns, grief, trauma, and related mental health challenges will find dedicated support in Laurie’s care. She is committed to helping children and adolescents develop the skills they need to thrive at home, in school, and in their communities.
Laurie Harper provides services with supervision.
