Royston Ogbuagu, PMHNP-BC Royston’s style of practice fosters the belief that every client is an individual who deserves an individualistic treatment approach to their own unique past, present and future life challenges. He brings a strong culturally sensitive approach to address ongoing stressors within the client, his environment and support network or lack thereof. His understanding of the client’s personal values being a crucial tool to establish a good rapport, trust and a positive collaborative therapist/client relationship is a core strength he possesses. Royston understands the role of pharmacological intervention to manage symptoms of concern and often uses this as an important educational focus when fostering compliance with clients. The desire to provide optimal psychiatric services for all stages of life has been Royston’s motivation to engage in different client age populations and various job settings including but not limited to residential treatment facilities, working in the community, in inpatient and outpatient work settings. Royston understands the importance of medication adherence and the need to explore circumstances hindering this desired goal which is why he makes it a primary focus during routine follow up sessions. Royston is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with multiple undergraduate degrees in various fields including Nursing. He eventually obtained an advanced practice nursing degree from CUNY Hunter when the passion for a specialty in psychiatry was discovered during volunteer work at a local Westchester county hospital.
