About Cathy Cato (They/Them)

Cathy Cato helps patients find stability, relief, and clarity through comprehensive psychiatric care that combines medication management with thoughtful therapeutic support. Practicing at LifeStance Health, they serve patients across Oklahoma, providing mental health services for children, adolescents, teens, adults, and seniors. Cathy’s approach is grounded in careful listening, clinical precision, and a commitment to helping patients feel supported while navigating both acute symptoms and long-term mental wellness. Cathy is particularly passionate about treating anxiety, mood disorders such as depression and bipolar disorder, and trauma-related conditions. They focus on helping patients understand how biological, emotional, and environmental factors interact, while using medication thoughtfully to reduce symptoms and improve daily functioning. This work is especially meaningful to Cathy, as it allows patients to regain a sense of control, improve sleep and energy, and feel more present in their relationships and responsibilities. In addition to these primary areas, Cathy treats concerns including substance use disorders, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, psychotic disorders, grief, postpartum mental health challenges, and sleep disorders, and offers additional areas of psychiatric care when appropriate. They work with children and adolescents, including teens, as well as adults and seniors. Cathy has experience supporting populations such as first responders, military members and veterans, and LGBTQ+ individuals. Their clinical approach emphasizes evidence-based care, incorporating Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles alongside medication management to support lasting improvement. Cathy believes effective mental health treatment is collaborative and respectful, with treatment plans tailored to each patient’s goals, values, and stage of life. They prioritize safety, transparency, and consistency to help patients feel confident in their care. Outside of clinical practice, Cathy enjoys spending time with family, especially their grandkids, cooking, traveling, and attending sporting events, activities that bring balance and joy to their life.

So thankful for this place! Cathy was so kind and listened to all of my concerns. An overdosed thyroid put me in a manic hyperthyroidism state with horrible anxiety. My Dr who caused the overdose would not help me so I scheduled with Cathy. She did not push tons of medications and listened when I said I only need meds temporarily until my thyroid is back under control to help me function. She put me on very low dose meds and put together a taper plan to get me off when I was ready and thyroid back to normal. After a week on the meds the anxiety was gone and has not come back. She was a blessing for sure! 5⭐️
