Dr. Tawni Stoop earned her undergraduate degree in Psychology from Wesleyan University (Middletown, CT) and went on to earn her Master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology from the Pennsylvania State University (State College, PA). She completed her predoctoral internship at the University of Vermont Medical Center before joining LifeStance Health as a post-doctoral fellow. She has received training in a diverse range of contexts including providing long-term therapy in community mental health; consultation in school settings; brief intervention and consultation in integrated primary care and medical specialty (sleep, type-1 diabetes) clinics; and brief and long-term therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults with acute and chronic medical conditions in a hospital setting.

Dr. Stoop approaches therapy from the understanding that all behaviors and emotions serve a purpose. When we can identify that purpose, as well as how those behaviors and emotions interact with each other and those around us, we can begin to understand how to approach change. She aims to provide clients with space and acceptance of all emotions while working towards learning to cope with, manage, and sometimes change what is unhelpful or harmful in these dynamics. She utilizes a flexible approach that draws from a variety of evidence-based therapeutic techniques to tailor treatment to each person to meet their specific goals.

Dr. Stoop is particularly passionate about providing parenting support for parents of young children. She has a specific interest in working with couples looking to improve communication and process challenges that may be interfering with maintaining connection. She also has extensive experience providing individual therapy to children, adolescents, and young adults struggling with anxiety, obsessive-compulsive behaviors, and sleep issues.

Outside of work, Dr. Stoop most enjoys spending time with her husband and their dog. She often spends her free time hiking, playing video games, baking, or simply being outside. More recently, she has been trying to re-establish her love of reading and is always open to book recommendations!

Tawni B. Stoop provides services with supervision.
