Alicia Carlos, With a focus on improving the mental health of children and adolescents, she offers expert care and support to young individuals and their families. Dr. Alicia Carlos is dedicated to providing comprehensive treatment for a range of mental health concerns, including ADHD, anxiety, bipolar disorder, childhood behavior issues, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, PTSD/trauma, school avoidance, and sleep disorders/insomnia. Understanding the unique challenges that children and adolescents face, Dr. Carlos utilizes evidence-based approaches to medication management tailored to each individual’s needs. Her goal is to empower her patients and their caregivers, fostering resilience and well-being. In addition to her clinical expertise, Dr. Carlos is deeply passionate about working with populations such as those in adoption/foster care, individuals with autism spectrum disorders, and those with developmental disabilities. She believes in providing inclusive and personalized care to each person she serves.

Outside of her practice, Dr. Carlos finds joy in spending time with her family and beloved dog. She enjoys reading and tending to her small garden.

Dr. Carlos, In my personal I’ve been traded by seven different psychiatrist and 12 years. I was under Dr. Carlos care from 1999 till April 15-2024. I could never express or tell her or neither could my family how grateful we are that she worked with me and with Dr. Spears at the Brook KMI I received ECT treatments from the treat plan for me to battle my bipolar one with rapid cycling every day because it’s a daily battle for any mental health patient. More psychiatrist thing that the best thing to help a patient with mental health issues and you always hear this question asked, have they been taking their medication or have they stopped taking their medication. Dr. Carlos, in my experience, not only does she know and completely understand the benefits of the medication she prescribes and provide the patient. She also fully knows and understands what the side effects can be and that one prescription might help one patient with bipolar one and the other patient makes him even worse, Dr. Karl knows that each patient will respond to medication different than others. I was having a very hard and difficult life dealing and living with bipolar one which was caused by the explosion Iraq that almost killed me. Thanks to Dr. Carlos hard work and genuine care of helping me have live a better life. She provided me you’re not only with medication that help me control my symptoms. She also understands that medication is not cure. She saw personally I had doctor visits the same day two hours after I had received an ECT treatment and she saw how well I responded from them ECT Therapy. Unfortunately just like medication even ECT therapy wears off. It’s not permanent. Dr. Carlos understands that patient as they owe as they age. She will not only provide you and recommend you with the best medication for your child condition. She will also recommend for your child like she didn’t adult me to ensure I eat well, reduce my intake of caffeine exercise daily stay active she will teach you how to observe your child’s mental health change if they bipolar to recognize hypomania manic or depression not only helping you parent but also educating the child to notice help take care of their self . Thanks to Dr. Carlos. The last two years of my life have been the best since I was diagnosed to June 2012. I feel like a normal person now my family, especially my daughter who is a cast member at Florida Disney Cinderella would like to personally tell Dr. Carlos, thanks for convincing the aliens that kidnapped her father and I are in 2009 and replacing with an alien that she was able to convince the aliens to return me two years ago and she’s glad to have her father back. This may sound like a hemorrhage joke but this is the truth. My daughter loves me greatly my entire family thanks the doctor Karl is responsible and I know she’s responsible for me having a normal life. I still have my bipolar one that never go away. it’s a daily fight. She will teach you that too. There’s no cure in a bottle there’s only medication to help the symptoms. Dr. Carlos knows that as a person ages medication may not be as effective. She’s also knows like a lot of psychiatrist. Do not seem to understand when you tell them that you’re experiencing severe side effects from the medication and your family notices it too. as a father of a wonderful daughter and successful daughter who is living a happy life who told me that when I came back from Iraq in 2009 I was not a nice man. She said I was hard to love but the last two years thanks to Dr. Carlos, the aliens returned her father. If I had any children, I would want no other psychiatrist other than Dr. Carlos in the state of Kentucky to treat my child if I had to drive from Indiana to Lexington I would drive that distance is there is no better psychiatrist in my 12 years of experience and Dr. Carlos. Since Dr. Carlos left VA., I tried one other psychiatrist at the VA, she cannot compare with Dr. Carlos professionalism and experience. I have transferred all my mental healthcare Private providers away from the VA!

I've known Dr. Carlos for years and she has been among the best, most skilled, collaborative, and compassionate psychiatrists I've ever worked with. I cannot say enough good things about her. She is truly a gift to the field and to her clients.
