Dr. Kanin earned a PhD in Clinical Psychology from DePaul U in Chicago and completed an internship in Pediatric Psychology at the U of MD Medical Center in Baltimore. She served as a consultant to the Child and Adolescent and the Biological Psychiatry Branches of the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), participating in research protocols and conducting psychological testing evaluations. Courses taught include Introduction to Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, Human Development, Research Methods and Statistics (Montgomery College, George Mason U, New Hampshire Technical Institute). Dr. Kanin’s main contribution to the field of psychology, however, is as a psychotherapist; she has treated individuals, couples and families of all age ranges and with a variety of presenting problems over many years.
