Jennifer Yates, Therapist

Jennifer Yates, LICSW, MA

Jennifer Yates, LICSW, helps individuals build resilience, gain insight, and develop practical tools to navigate life’s challenges with confidence. She provides individual therapy to teens, adults, and seniors across Minnesota, creating a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard and empowered. Jennifer is especially skilled in treating anxiety, depression, and ADHD, using a person-centered approach that honors each individual’s lived experience and goals. Jennifer has extensive experience supporting diverse populations, including individuals with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Since 2008, she has worked closely with the Deaf and Blind communities and is fluent in American Sign Language (ASL/PSE), allowing her to provide accessible, culturally responsive mental health care. She also has a background in co-occurring disorders and uses a harm-reduction perspective to meet clients where they are in their recovery journey. Her clinical approach integrates evidence-based techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness practices. Jennifer tailors therapy to help clients improve emotional regulation, strengthen coping skills, and enhance overall well-being. She also provides support for additional concerns, including trauma, substance use, life transitions, and relationship stressors. Jennifer holds degrees from Capella University, Saint Paul College, Walden University, St. Cloud State University, and Anoka-Ramsey Community College, bringing a well rounded educational foundation to her clinical work. Outside of her practice, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her long-term significant other and their four cats. She loves fishing, bowling, gardening, cooking and grilling, exercising, and watching movies and TV shows, as well as connecting with friends and family.
