Dr. Darius Poitier has more than 25 years of experience in the social services and behavioral health fields. Throughout his career, he has served in a variety of clinical, administrative, and leadership roles across outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, inpatient, residential treatment, juvenile justice, and community-based behavioral health settings.

Originally from South Florida, Dr. Poitier earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Lynn University, a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Barry University, and a Doctor of Social Work (DSW) in Administrative Leadership from the University of Kentucky. He is a Licensed Independent Social Worker-Clinical Practice Supervisor (LISW-CP-S) in South Carolina and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in Florida. In addition, he has been an ordained Christian minister since 2012.

Dr. Poitier has extensive experience in clinical counseling, Christian counseling, substance use treatment, case management, program administration, and behavioral health leadership. He provides individual, family, and couples therapy and primarily utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) while incorporating other evidence-based modalities such as Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Person-Centered Therapy, Family Systems Therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

He provides treatment for a wide range of concerns, including depression, anxiety, trauma, PTSD, grief, adjustment disorders, mood dysregulation, and relationship challenges. Since 2019, Dr. Poitier has incorporated EMDR into his clinical practice to help individuals process trauma and achieve lasting emotional healing. Upon request, he integrates Christian faith and biblical principles with evidence-based clinical interventions to provide holistic care.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Poitier serves as a Behavioral Health Surveyor for The Joint Commission, is a guest lecturer at the College of Charleston, and provides supervision, training, and consultation to behavioral health professionals and organizations. His professional interests include leadership development, measurement-based care, quality improvement, and advancing effective behavioral health services.

Outside of his professional responsibilities, Dr. Poitier enjoys traveling, spending time with family, ministry, and drag racing.
