Steve Merrin helps adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults throughout Utah navigate emotional challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change. As a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor with LifeStance Health, he provides a supportive, practical, and evidence-based approach to care. Steve works with individuals facing anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma, while also offering support for a wide range of additional mental health concerns. Through individual therapy, group therapy, Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP), and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP), he partners with patients to develop personalized strategies that promote lasting wellness and improved quality of life. A particular area of passion for Steve is working with individuals involved in court-ordered treatment. He understands the unique challenges that can arise when treatment is mandated and strives to create a respectful, collaborative environment where patients feel heard and supported. His goal is to help individuals move beyond compliance and toward genuine personal growth, improved coping skills, and greater emotional stability. Steve has extensive experience supporting diverse populations, including military veterans, first responders, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. He recognizes that every person brings a unique story and set of experiences to therapy. His treatment approach is tailored to each individual and may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR, and additional evidence-based interventions when clinically appropriate. Since beginning his clinical practice in 2015, Steve has remained committed to helping people overcome obstacles related to mental health, life transitions, stress, and relationship concerns. He earned his education from Argosy University and the University of Washington, building a strong foundation for providing compassionate and effective mental health care. Outside of his professional work, Steve enjoys golfing, spending time with his family, vacationing near the beach, and creating and maintaining aquariums. These interests help him stay balanced and connected to the importance of self-care and meaningful activities.
