Tammy Ellington, DNP, PMHNP
Specializes In:
Tammy Ellington is an ANCC board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She has worked in both private practice and community mental health settings, and has experience treating anxiety and panic disorders, depression, bipolar disorders, psychosis, schizophrenia, schizoaffective, trauma, personality disorders, eating disorders, OCD, prolonged grief, postpartum depression, anger and impulse control issues, conduct disorders, ODD, autism spectrum disorders, ADHD, executive function deficits, sensory integration issues, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and co-occurring substance use. Tammy uses an integrative, holistic approach to treat mental health conditions by incorporating psychiatric medication management, brief psychotherapy, and nutrition and wellness counseling into each session.
She believes in treating the root cause of mental health symptoms, which can be caused by long-term stress, trauma, nutritional deficiencies, interpersonal relationships issues, or chemical imbalances in the brain and body. She believes that to heal the mind and body, we must treat the root cause and not just the symptoms. Tammy strongly believes if we want to live our best life it’s important to be intentional and focused about our choices. Her former work experience in the fitness industry taught her that the most successful strategy for long-term change is through making small lifestyle changes overtime that don’t feel so overwhelming. She assists patients with learning to set short- and long-term goals to help with personal accountability, self-empowerment, and ultimately to find peace, meaning, and fulfillment in their lives.
