Dr. Julie Graves, Therapist

Dr. Julie Graves, PhD, LPC

Specializes In:

Dr. Julie Graves helps older teens, adults, and seniors across Oregon build healthier relationships, process difficult emotions, and create lasting change through compassionate, evidence-based therapy. At LifeStance Health, Dr. Graves provides individual therapy, and group therapy to support clients navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, identity or relationship concerns, and major life transitions. As a Licensed Professional Counselor, her approach is grounded in the theory of emotionally focused therapy (EFT) and emphasizes the ways early attachment patterning affects current functioning. Dr. Graves views the therapy process as a collaboration between client and therapist, aimed at creating more emotional flexibility for the client to live their most peaceful, joyful and engaged life possible. She is especially passionate about working with LGBTQ+ clients, members of the adoption triad, and individuals seeking body-positive, sex-positive, and kink-affirming care. Her approach integrates scientifically proven techniques from research on mindfulness, self-compassion, embodiment, and other experiential tools for clients to practice both in session and in their day-to-day lives. Her therapeutic style is warm, thoughtful, and curious, balancing clinical expertise with authentic human connection. Clients often appreciate her open-minded and affirming approach, her sense of humor, and her ability to gently challenge them to move in the direction of their goals. Outside of work, Dr. Graves enjoys reading, meditation, listening to live music, losing badly at trivia games, spending time with her two dogs and one cat, gathering around campfires with friends, and exploring the natural beauty of Oregon.
