Peter Meilahn helps adolescents, teens, and adults throughout Oregon develop practical skills to navigate life’s challenges, improve emotional well-being, and build lasting resilience. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with LifeStance Health, he provides individual therapy for concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, and life transitions. Peter works collaboratively with clients to create treatment plans that are grounded in evidence-based practices while honoring each person’s unique experiences, strengths, and goals. A particular area of passion in Peter’s work is helping individuals better understand the connection between the brain, body, and emotional health. He incorporates biofeedback techniques that allow clients to observe physiological responses such as heart rate patterns and learn how to cultivate greater calm, focus, and self-regulation. Peter also utilizes Amen Clinic brain type assessments to help guide personalized mindfulness strategies that align with the way each client’s brain processes information and stress. Peter has extensive experience supporting individuals managing ADHD, anxiety, and PTSD/trauma, while also helping clients address challenges related to sleep difficulties, medical conditions, chronic pain, and significant life transitions. His approach integrates Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness practices, and biofeedback to help clients develop meaningful, sustainable change. He also has experience working with individuals from the autism spectrum community, those with developmental disabilities, and people recovering from head injuries. Since beginning his clinical practice in 2010, Peter has focused on helping clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and move toward lives that feel more aligned with their values. He believes therapy is most effective when it combines scientific understanding with genuine human connection, curiosity, and respect. Outside of his clinical work, Peter enjoys spending time in nature and has a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors after growing up near Lake Superior. He is passionate about art, poetry, and comedy, and enjoys creative pursuits ranging from web design to woodworking and painting when time allows. Skiing remains his favorite sport and an important source of balance and enjoyment.
