Steven Kendell, MD, ABPN,
About Steven Kendell (He/Him)
Steven Kendell helps adults across Tennessee navigate mental health challenges with thoughtful, evidence-based psychiatric care tailored to their individual goals and circumstances. As a prescriber at LifeStance Health, he works with adults and older adults who are seeking relief from conditions such as anxiety, depression, and ADHD, while also supporting individuals facing a broad range of other mental health concerns through comprehensive evaluation and medication management.
Dr. Kendell has a particular focus on helping patients better understand how mental health symptoms affect daily functioning, relationships, work performance, and overall quality of life. He takes a collaborative approach to treatment, partnering with patients to create practical, personalized care plans that align with their needs and preferences. In addition to treating anxiety, depression, and ADHD, he has experience supporting individuals with bipolar disorder, PTSD, obsessive-compulsive disorder, sleep disorders, psychosis, substance use concerns, and other psychiatric conditions.
He is especially passionate about working with individuals experiencing alcohol and drug use issues. Through medication management and a nonjudgmental, patient-centered approach, Dr. Kendell helps patients address substance use challenges while also treating co-occurring mental health conditions. He understands that recovery is a highly personal journey and strives to provide support that promotes long-term wellness, stability, and resilience.
As part of his practice, Dr. Kendell offers medication management services and may incorporate advanced treatment options such as Spravato® (esketamine) therapy when clinically appropriate. His goal is to help patients find effective strategies that reduce symptoms and improve overall functioning, while recognizing that each person’s path to healing is unique.
Outside of work, Dr. Kendell enjoys scuba diving and making yogurt, though he jokes that he does not do both at the same time. These interests reflect his curiosity, sense of humor, and appreciation for balance in life.
Patients throughout Tennessee seeking psychiatric care, medication management, treatment for anxiety, depression, ADHD, or support for substance use concerns can work with Dr. Kendell through LifeStance Health.
