Ma’Kiah Waters, LCSW
Specializes In:
Ma’Kiah Waters helps children, adolescents, teens, adults, and older adults build practical skills, strengthen resilience, and navigate life’s challenges with greater confidence. At LifeStance Health, Ma’Kiah provides therapy for individuals, families, and groups across Oregon, creating a supportive and collaborative space where patients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful change. Drawing from evidence-based approaches, Ma’Kiah works with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma, while also offering support for many other mental health needs.
One of Ma’Kiah’s greatest passions is working with individuals facing ADHD, childhood behavioral concerns, and school avoidance. Ma’Kiah understands how these challenges can affect emotional well-being, academic success, family relationships, and self-esteem. By partnering with children, teens, and their caregivers, Ma’Kiah helps families develop effective strategies, improve communication, and build on strengths to support long-term growth and success.
Ma’Kiah tailors treatment to each patient’s unique goals and experiences, integrating approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition to supporting individuals with anxiety, depression, and trauma-related concerns, Ma’Kiah has experience working with members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals involved in adoption and foster care, and people with developmental disabilities. Additional areas of expertise and treatment approaches are also available to meet a variety of mental health needs.
With a warm, person-centered style, Ma’Kiah believes that healing happens through authentic connection, curiosity, and compassion. Patients are encouraged to explore their experiences in a safe environment while developing practical tools that can be used in everyday life. Whether someone is seeking support for emotional challenges, life transitions, relationship difficulties, or personal growth, Ma’Kiah strives to help them move toward greater balance and well-being.
Outside of practice, Ma’Kiah enjoys expressing creativity through painting, photography, beading, and gardening. Staying active, spending time in nature, and connecting with animals are also important parts of life, especially enjoying time with two beloved cats, Misty and Lucy.
