Margaret Sokal helps adults and older adults across Oregon navigate life’s challenges with greater resilience, clarity, and emotional well-being. As a Licensed Professional Counselor at LifeStance Health, she provides individual therapy for clients facing concerns such as depression, trauma, grief, and substance use-related struggles. Margaret creates a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients can process difficult experiences, build coping skills, and work toward meaningful, lasting change. Margaret is particularly passionate about helping individuals heal from PTSD and trauma, manage depression, and address the mental health aspects of alcohol and drug use issues. She understands that emotional pain, unresolved trauma, and addiction-related challenges are often deeply connected. Through therapy, she helps clients gain insight into these patterns, strengthen their emotional resilience, and develop healthier ways of responding to life’s stressors. Drawing from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness practices, Margaret tailors treatment to each person’s unique experiences and goals. Her approach balances compassion with practical strategies, empowering clients to better understand their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors while building skills that support long-term recovery and personal growth. In addition to her primary areas of focus, she provides support for a variety of mental health concerns and life transitions. Since beginning her counseling career in 2010, Margaret has worked with adults from diverse backgrounds and has experience supporting First Responders and Military/Veterans. She values the courage it takes to seek help and believes therapy can be a powerful opportunity for healing, self-discovery, and positive transformation. Outside of her clinical work, Margaret enjoys hiking, yoga, art, music, travel, reading, cooking, and spending time with family and friends. These interests help her maintain balance and bring a sense of curiosity and appreciation for personal growth into her work with clients.
