About Melba Buchanan (She/Her)
Melba Buchanan helps adults and older adults across Tennessee navigate life’s challenges with compassion, insight, and evidence-based care. As a Licensed Professional Counselor with LifeStance Health, she provides individual therapy for people facing concerns such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD/trauma. Melba is committed to creating a supportive, nonjudgmental environment where clients can explore their experiences, build resilience, and develop meaningful strategies for lasting emotional wellness. A particular area of passion for Melba is helping individuals address alcohol and drug use issues. She understands the far-reaching impact substance use concerns can have on relationships, work, health, and overall quality of life. Through a collaborative therapeutic approach, she helps clients identify underlying factors contributing to substance use, strengthen coping skills, and work toward sustainable recovery goals that align with their values and personal aspirations. Melba also enjoys supporting adults through significant life transitions, including midlife and later-life changes. Whether someone is adjusting to a new stage of life, coping with loss, managing stress, or seeking greater emotional balance, she partners with clients to help them gain clarity and confidence. Her therapeutic approach incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and mindfulness-based techniques. She also offers additional therapeutic interventions tailored to each client’s unique needs and goals. Drawing on her professional training from Trevecca Nazarene College, Melba combines clinical expertise with genuine empathy. She believes that effective therapy begins with a strong therapeutic relationship built on trust, respect, and understanding. Her goal is to help clients feel heard, empowered, and equipped to make positive changes in their lives. Outside of her clinical work, Melba enjoys reading, watching comedies, trying new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family. These interests help her maintain balance and bring warmth and authenticity to her work with clients. Through LifeStance Health, Melba proudly serves adults and seniors throughout Tennessee with personalized mental health treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, substance use concerns, and life transitions.
