Building Belonging: A Virtual Group For Autistic Adults in Illinois

Living in a world that isn’t designed for Autistic minds can be challenging. This group offers a supportive space for Autistic individuals to explore their unique experiences, celebrate their strengths, and connect with others who understand.

Group Overview:

Together, we will promote social engagement, build new skills, and foster a greater sense of self-understanding and empowerment.

Topics may include:
• Identifying and understanding your personal needs
• Developing self-advocacy skills
• Exploring neurodivergent strengths and challenges
• Psychoeducation on Autism and related experiences
• Strategies to support sensory regulation and needs
• Understanding the differences and communication styles of Allistic (non-Autistic) others
• Celebrating individuality and authenticity in a neurodiverse world

Participants: Adults 18+ with or without a professional diagnosis of Autism who feel they would benefit from engaging with others with shared experiences. A screening appointment will be necessary prior to the group meetings to confirm fit and identify any other necessary supports needed to promote engagement in the group setting.

When: Virtual Sessions starting on Tuesdays from 6 to 7 p.m., starting August 19

Cost: Insurance and self-pay are accepted in Illinois
