Cristhian is a Licensed Professional Counselor that has served adults, children, youth, and their families for over 15 years. A native of Chile, he obtained his Masters in Counseling Psychology at Temple University and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Early in his career in urban youth ministry and later as a Clinical Supervisor in school based mental health, Cristhian developed a deep understanding of what motivates people to learn and grow. His understanding of human development and attachment theories serves as the underpinning for his work with children, youth and adults. I

n addition to having a general practice focusing on developmental disorders, depression, anxiety, existential angst, intimacy challenges and managing stress, Cristhian can guide individuals and families through parenting education, attachment disruption (adoption-foster care-blended families etc.), as well as immigration and acculturation challenges. Lately he has trained and is pursuing certification as an IFS therapist which is a non-pathologizing approach to understanding, relating and healing controlling, angry, over-reactive, impulsive, compulsive, hypervigilant, critical, ashamed and shaming internal parts among many others. Even though Trauma and Attachment Injury can leave scars in all of us, Cristhian believes that we also have the power to heal and no longer suffer once we reconnect with our own intact core self.

Cristhian grew up in the desert in a small mining town in the north of Chile. His father was a preacher and his mother a teacher: “I did compromise,” says Cristhian, so he became a therapist. He also is a music aficionado and enjoys singing and playing the flute. To decompress, Cristhian likes to play tennis, mountain biking, and fixing all sorts of stuff.
