Hello and welcome! My name is Elise Higgins, LSW, and I am so glad you are here! I recognize the strength, courage, and vulnerability it takes to initiate the first step and to reach out for support. I strive to offer a safe, warm, and nonjudgmental space where clients are able to feel supported and freely express their thoughts as they navigate and heal from life’s challenges.

I am a Licensed Social Worker with over 6 years of experience specializing in working with children, adolescents, and young adults who experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and trauma. I have experience working with clients with developmental disorders, including ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder, and teaching social skills. I have experience utilizing Play Therapy, Person Centered, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but because no individual is the same, there is no “one size fits all therapeutic approach. Together, we can work collaboratively to identify ways to help you feel empowered and make lasting changes to improve your overall quality of life. It is important to me to always operate from a strengths-based approach and to meet my clients exactly where they are.

I hold a Masters of Social Work from The University of Kansas. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Social Welfare and Bachelor of Science in Family Studies and Human Services from Kansas State University. I completed my Play Therapy Certificate from MidAmerica Nazarene University and I hold an Illinois Professional Educator License Type 73 with Endorsement in School Social Work.
