Miranda Kuschel, MA, CPSS
Miranda Kuschel is a Certified Peer Support Specialist in Minnesota who has been practicing since 2020. Miranda has a BA in Counseling and Psychology, an MA Counseling Psychology: Trauma Specialist, an MA in Alcohol and Drug Counselor, is a FEMA Psychological First Aide Responder, an Incident Command Center: FEMA Hostage/Active Shooter Negotiator, a Crisis Prevention Interventionist, and a Crisis Intervention Trainer. As a provider, Miranda works to establish a connection that makes you feel you are in the right place. Miranda understands that trust is earned. Your story is still being written but trusting someone to help guide you through the hardest parts, gives us encounters with trust. There is life after shame, guilt, confusion, and fear. As a good communicator, Miranda stays invested in what will bring forth change. She takes time to help you discover the best version of yourself. When working together, Miranda creates an atmosphere where sincerity is felt. There is nothing more powerful than exemplifying an understanding of what you are going through. Miranda’s goal is for you to sense that she is real, honest and a genuine communicator. Miranda can’t change what happened to you, or what you are living with. She can just offer another way to live a better life. Miranda’s strongest therapeutic skillsets are remaining centered on what will motivate changes. She doesn’t have the prescription for that, just lots of practice seeing healing in others. Miranda uses role-playing, strong metaphorical viewpoints, cognitive reframing, goal setting, DBT, inner child work, and mindfulness. Together you build up solid strategies to survive in your difficulties. Clients see the investment in therapy absolutely pays off when there is equal engagement. Miranda will encourage and promise you learning through vulnerability. Miranda invites you to make sure each time you are with each other, you will feel better than when you came. Outside of work, Miranda is in awe of nature, as it is where she finds healing. She loves to hike all over the US, mountain bike, and do scenic photography. Her deepest passion is working with different missions, women’s prison, youth mentoring and non-profit work. For years she has been a swim mom of two athletic team swimmers. She is an active mental health advocate and immerses herself in helping others in recovery from addictions. She loves to decorate, thrift, and paint. She sees as much live music as possible. Above all she never wants to stop learning. She is drawn to reading, documentaries, podcasts, TedTalks. Her clients end up teaching her the most!
