Stavroula Kulpa, LMHC
I first developed an interest in psychology at the age of 13. I remember telling my parents I was going to be a child psychology. I loved children and wanted to help those children who were less fortunate than myself. I began my career working with adolescents in a group home at the age of 20 as a milieu counselor. I was their to support the residences during times of high stress as well as assist them in completing their daily responsibilities. I graduated from Bridgewater State College in 1995 and then continued with my education at the University of Massachusetts Boston, where I earned my Masters and two advanced graduate certificates. One as a School Psychologist (2004) and the other as a Mental Health Counselor (2009). I have been a School Psychologist for 17 years, working with children and their families for various reasons, behavioral, emotional, and academic. I then embarked on earning my doctoral degree in the summer of 2016. I completed my degree in May of 2020. I currently hold a doctoral degree in School Psychology. However, after working with families for many years, I discovered my interest in working with couples. During my doctoral training, I worked with a Certified Gottman therapist and later became trained in Gottman Therapy. I currently am a Level 2 trained Gottman Therapist. I have used the method faithfully and have helped various couples reconnect and build a stronger relationship with their partner. I specialize in working with couples and I am faithful in using a Gottman Approach within my practice. Gottman Therapy is an evidence based approach in working with couples. I also specialize in working with individuals with anxiety and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy as well as Exposure techniques to help these individuals overcome their anxious feelings and gain control of their life.
