Susan Singer, LMHC

I have been working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor since 2015, in addition I have 30+ years of experience as a social worker in health care. My practicum and internship were with hospice where I became trained in end of life, grief and bereavement counseling. As a social worker, I was primarily engaged with clients who were adjusting to changes in their lives, such as retirement and loss of functional and cognitive ability. As a counselor, I work with teenagers and adults, individually, as couples and families. My practice is LGBTQ+ affirming and I specialize in dialectic behavior therapy (DBT), grief counseling and supportive counseling. I am certified in hypnotherapy and am finalizing certification as a trauma professional. I am eager to learn and enjoy training to broaden my skill set. I see a variety of clients with a range of diagnoses therefore, my approach to counseling is integrative. I draw from different theoretical perspectives such as DBT, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Supportive therapy, Mindfulness and Rogerian which allows me to provide a tailored approach for my clients. In the community I remain active with a number of counseling and community organizations, such as PFLAG, LGBTQ+ Affirming Therapists and DBT Therapists of Central Florida which help me remain informed and provide peer supervision and consultation.
