Dexter Odeneal, LSW, helps children, adolescents, teens, and adults across Illinois navigate emotional, behavioral, and relationship challenges with a compassionate, practical, and goal-oriented approach. As a provisionally licensed social worker at LifeStance Health, he provides individual therapy, couples therapy, and family therapy for those seeking support with anxiety, depression, ADHD, and other life challenges. Dexter creates a welcoming, nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to make meaningful changes. A significant focus of Dexter’s work is helping individuals and families affected by trauma, behavioral health concerns, and co-occurring mental health challenges. He has extensive experience supporting children, teens, and adults who have experienced physical or sexual abuse, as well as individuals facing complex emotional and behavioral difficulties. Dexter is passionate about helping clients recognize their strengths, build resilience, and develop effective coping skills that can be applied in everyday life. Dexter utilizes evidence-based approaches tailored to each client’s unique needs. His clinical work often incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). He works with concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, childhood behavior issues, relationship difficulties, and trauma, while also offering support for additional mental health and life transition concerns. Dexter has experience serving members of the adoption and foster care community, individuals with autism spectrum disorders, and military veterans, among other populations. Known for his humility, authenticity, and ability to build meaningful therapeutic relationships, Dexter believes that growth occurs when clients feel safe enough to explore challenges and discover new perspectives. He finds great fulfillment in witnessing clients develop confidence, strengthen relationships, and apply the skills they learn in therapy to achieve their personal goals. Dexter earned his Master of Social Work from Indiana Wesleyan University and has been practicing since 2021. Outside of his clinical work, he enjoys weight lifting, personal training, blogging, traveling, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

Dexter Odeneal provides services with supervision.
