“Understanding Religious Trauma Group”
Defining religious trauma, understanding related symptoms, learning tools and recognizing safe communal spaces.
Group Focus:
This group will focus on defining religious trauma, understanding related symptoms, learning tools to cope with religious trauma symptoms, and recognizing safe communal spaces for participants to explore their own healthy spirituality. Due to current demographic needs, this group will operate from a lens of religious harm stemming from the Christian faith.
Interested participants will complete a “spiritual harm and abuse scale” and a pre-screening with the facilitator. Group members will sign a group safety guidelines prior to joining the group.
Participants: Adults 21+ of any gender
Program is offered via virtual online sessions
Cost: Insurance and self-pay are accepted in Tennessee

Nicole Shepherd is a licensed professional counselor who works to cultivate a warm and goal focused relationship with her clients. Nicole has been working as a therapist in a variety of residential and outpatient settings since 2012, serving those who have struggled with severe and persistent mental health needs.

Tuesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Starting February 6, 2024. Rolling admissions (pending availability).
