Calvin Sanborn, Intern

Calvin Sanborn is third year doctoral student in the Counseling and School Psychology PsyD Program at Rivier University in Nashua, New Hampshire. Prior to entering this program, Calvin served as an ordained priest in the Episcopal Church in a variety of contexts including parishes and university settings. This vocation gave him the opportunity to work with individuals of all ages (children, adolescents, young adults, adults, and older adults) as well as couples and families. Calvin’s approach to counseling is informed by a multicultural and family systems perspective and ACT. He is committed to forming strong therapeutic relationships with his clients and honors the many ways in which their life experiences, relationships, and societal influences may impact their mental health and wellbeing. He works from a strengths-based perspective and favors a client-led approach. Calvin is passionate about supporting LGBTQIA+ people, particularly those who have experienced the trauma of being rejected or alienated by a religious community. Calvin also has experience supporting adoptive families and families with children who have special needs.
