David Hess, PhD

David W. Hess is a Psychologist in Virginia who has been practicing since 1992. He was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA and has more than 30 years of experience providing psychological services. He has served in both the US Air Force and US Public Health Service as a Clinical Psychologist. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Millersville University of Pa., a Master’s degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University in School Psychology in New Jersey, and Doctor of Philosophy (PHD) in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University, in Florida. He completed his post-doctoral education at Hahnemann University School of Medicine, PA. He is board certified by the American Board of Professional Psychology in Rehabilitation Psychology, with special interests in neurodegenerative diseases and dementia.

Dr. Hess has enjoyed providing comprehensive assessments to patients with a variety of neurological care needs such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, seizures, tumors, and attention deficit disorders. He has also served a consultant to the Federal Aviation Association as a neuropsychologist. Dr. Hess is also a highly experienced Cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist and has assisted patients suffering from anxiety, depression, sleep problems, life transitions, and performance issues.

Dr. Hess is married and has two adult children. He enjoys painting, photography, playing the guitar, cycling, backpacking/hiking, and fishing.
