About Margaret Cornwell, LMHC

I became a licensed mental health counselor in 1991. I see individuals and couples in an outpatient office, although I have a wide range of experience counseling adults and teens in both inpatient and outpatient settings, as well as in doing psychological testing. I specialize in counseling adults with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, and obsessive compulsive traits, as well as doing therapy with individuals dealing with a variety of life stressors, such as grief, health problems, work and relationship issues. I primarily use a cognitive behavioral approach to treatment, a technique with years of research validating its effectiveness. At the same time, I tailor my treatment to the particular needs and personality of each individual. Similarly, I am a Christian and approach counseling from this point of view, without imposing my beliefs on my clients. I believe my greatest asset is my ability to meet people where they are while guiding them toward their treatment goals in a way that values them as human beings. I truly consider it a privilege to be a part of people's lives in this way. I am accepting new patients.
