My approach to patient care is very supportive, while following the biopsychosocial model of care, which encompasses biological, psychological and social factors and how they interact with health, illness and delivery of care. After performing a thorough diagnostic assessment, we discuss evidence-based approaches. I integrate medication management and psychotherapeutic approaches when indicated. Over the years, I have developed a deep appreciation in trauma related issues, as well as special interest in women’s mental health and cultural issues.
I earned my medical degree at the Rosario University. After working in primary care, I completed psychiatry residency at Harvard South Shore residency program in Massachusetts. The rigorous training at the VA Boston Healthcare system offered me the ability to treat diverse and challenging patient populations. My participation in clinical research regarding the Neurobiology of traumatic reactions as well as training in Cognitive Processing therapy (CPT) for Posttraumatic stress disorders (PTSD) equipped me with additional expertise in reactions to trauma. Completing a fellowship in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute has equipped me with additional expertise in psychodynamics, which I integrate into my formulations and treatment plan interventions.
