Marianne Wilson, LCMHC

Marianne has been in the behavioral healthcare field since 1995. She was born and raised in NJ. She attended Kean College of NJ and received her BA in Psychology. Afterwards, she moved to Florida and attended graduate school at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL and remained there for the next 20 years. She became licensed in Florida in 2002 as a LMHC. Marianne worked with foster care children for 4 years and counseled many children diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder. She also worked as a clinician and then Clinical Services Manager in a private residential setting for dual diagnosis for 8 years. Diagnoses that were treated were adults with Asperger’s Syndrome, Schizophrenia and mood disorders. Early experiences in her career involved working with children with special needs in a school setting as well as in a crisis stabilization unit completing intake assessments in community mental health. Marianne spent 8 years in private practice where she provided individual, marital and family psychotherapy with adults with a variety of mental health issues. Marianne is a qualified supervisor in Florida and has supervised interns seeking licensure.

In March 2019, Marianne and her husband moved to NH where she spent the next few years working in community mental health and inpatient residential settings for adults with substance use disorders and mental health issues. Marianne is a LCMHC in NH and is also a qualified supervisor for interns seeking licensure in NH. Marianne enjoys the supervision process and helping to guide and support interns on their path to licensure.

Marianne’s area of expertise is working with young adults and adults with depression, anxiety, substance use disorders, mood disorders, codependency, grief and loss, and trauma. Marianne enjoys utilizing CBT techniques along with other treatment approaches such as DBT, Mindfulness based, and Motivational Interviewing. Marianne provides individual , marital and family psychotherapy. Marianne has provided group psychotherapy and psychoeducation groups for clients in outpatient, IOP, PHP and RTC levels of care. “To me, the most important role in therapy is building rapport and connection with the client. Without that, no fancy intervention will work.” Regarding the therapeutic process, “it’s an honor and privilege to do what I do. We get to be part of another human being’s journey. I’m so humbled and moved by individuals who show courage to seek out help.”

In Marianne’s spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She has a German Shepard dog and 2 cats. Marianne enjoys music, movies, cooking and decorating.
