Nadia Qadeer, MS, LAC, NCC
I received my Masters of Science in Rehabilitation Counseling from Rutgers University, School of Health Professions and my Bachelors of Science in Behavior & Health from Boston University Sargent College in 2015. Throughout my academic and professional career, I have interned and worked in various healthcare settings. These experiences have granted me opportunities to learn from clients of diverse backgrounds, various ages, and complex life circumstances: from children in schools, to members of a nursing home and assisted living facility, to adults with psychiatric disabilities in a partial care facility with job training. I have provided individual (in-person, video, telephone) and group counseling to help clients learn new skills to manage their symptoms and improve their quality of life, including but not limited to coping skills development, leisure exploration, meditation, and vocational exploration and rehabilitation.
As a therapist, I try to have an eclectic approach to providing services for clients, since just having a single therapeutic approach does not work for everyone. I have found that coming from Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing approaches can be beneficial for clients looking to manage their symptoms or make changes in their lives. I utilize a person-centered approach and provide clients with unconditional positive regard. I aim to be approachable to all ages and backgrounds. My life experiences have granted me a multicultural perspective which allows me to connect with numerous individuals and foster positive working alliances. I take things at face value and encourage my clients to harness the therapeutic process to better meet their needs and achieve their goals.
In my down-time, I thoroughly enjoy playing video games, crime podcasts, reading, and watching old TV shows/cartoons and food documentaries. I’m an aspiring cook and I love to make all sorts of dishes for my friends and family. If I’m not working, I spend my weekends exploring the Tri-State area for the best bakeries and/or the best barbecue.
