SMART Recovery-Behavior And Addiction Modification Therapy Group in Illinois
This SMART Recovery group is a 12- week support and psycho educational group to learn REBT based coping skills for gambling, eating disorders, substance abuse, alcohol abuse, sex addiction, porn, etc.
Group Focus:
People with other diagnosis such as depression and anxiety that find themselves acting out with behaviors they would like to change can also find this very beneficial. It teaches clients how to use skills such as the ABC’s of irrational beliefs, life balance wheel, change plans, cost benefit analysis, etc. in order to either change existing behaviors or maintain change. It is a non religious approach (although religion is not a problem). IT IS OF NOTE that this is not a discussion group like AA or other conventional support groups.
Participants: Adults 15-70+
Cost: Insurance based + cost of book, or self pay (book not required to take the course) in Illinois
Reading material: Members will need to purchase the SMART Recovery Handbook, 3rd Edition, which can be found on Amazon.
